More Blogging Is Needed.

I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to stop being lazy and need to blog more and more often. It’s literally been months since my last post.

A LOT has happened in the past year.

I have:

  • Held my first sale on Etsy.
  • Had my first custom order.
  • Had 18 sales and 10 positive feedbacks.
  • Had a successful holiday selling season = over $100.
  • Have taken part in 3 craft shows - 1 super successful one and 2 learning experiences.
  • and I still haven’t gotten around to finishing the string balls…

The web site is going to be revamped in the coming weeks. I plan on making it so that you can add things from the site right to a shopping cart, no more having to link to Etsy.

I’ve also been busy finishing up school. There’s about five more months left, so I’m working on my portfolio site as well now.

So the string balls were a complete failure. The biggest failure that I have ever encountered in my lifetime, in fact. I had such high hopes too. The twine dyed beautifully. Then the air leaked out of the balloons before the glue even dried, not once, but twice. So right now the hurricane glass that I purchased specifically for the string balls is empty on our kitchen table. I managed to salvage the used twine, so now I must purchase different balloons and try again. Try try again as the saying goes.

I also have a lot of super positive news, since my last update. I completed the packaging and found a way to create it myself to make each item even more personalized! I have also printed out a bunch of business cards, so handouts will be made!

And most importantly sometime in September, The PaperWave will be having its very own table at the AIGA Student Chapter’s Quarterly Craft Sale!! I’ll have to post the date, when it’s finalized. I hope to see you all there! I’m also now working on a catalog to distribute there as well as to some boutiques in the area. All of this in hopes that I could start doing some wholesale and/or consignment in the city.

Finally I have had not only my first but also my second sale on etsy! Well the second sale was my sister-in-law, but hey that counts right? So that brings the total sale count to three!

So now to celebrate M and I are spending some time with his family in Margate. Tomorrow night, we’re going to be celebrating his dad’s birthday at Caesar’s in Atlantic City. This should be a good time. It’s going to be back to the grind for me though. I want to do some more prints, cards, and finish the catalog. This is the life. :]

So when I get home, I will find out if the string balls were a success or not. I’m definitely crossing my fingers. In the mean time, I’m listening to The Beatles at work and coming up with new card designs!! :] I’m hoping to get the company’s business cards printed by this weekend!!!

Classes start again today. This quarter, I’m going to be at class and work Monday through Thursday. And it seems the next five or six weekends are booked, which means crafting is going to be slowing down. Depressing, I know. So today I’ve decided to finally make the string balls, that I have been putting off for so long. I’m dying the twine this morning, so pictures will be posted. :]

Have a good day everyone! Try to stay cool :]

This seriously just blew my mind.

So I’ve been caught up lately in the crafting world. I’m on the last leg of my summer break from school. There is only three days left and well my to-do list is still pretty long. Break was filled with family, the beach, and work it seems like. As far as the etsy goes, it’s up and running. I don’t have all of my merch listed yet. Actually the few items that I do have listed are the leftovers from the craft show. And well unfortunately no sales yet.

I will not be discouraged though. :] I’ve been block printing again. It feels great to just be able to be crafty with no purpose. I picked up some blank dish towels and flour sacks to print. Now I just need to figure out what to print on them. Any suggestions guys? I’m thinking at least one will be moustachioed. :D Maybe flowers or something kitchen related on the others? Fry Pans, kitchen beaters, clocks? That sort of thing.

I managed to even incorporate my block print design into a new banner for my etsy. And well I LOVE IT!! As you all can see, I’ve come up with a name and logo for the company. Let me know what you guys think!!

The new etsy banner

Once the etsy shop is full of the new items that I’m working on, there will be giveaways, contests, and of course COUPONS!! Stay tuned :]
